Another favorite find!

The woman I bought this from said she was going to use it as a planter but never did. I thought the same thing of course! I wasn't quite sure what it was exactly, just knew that I loved it. I looked it up and it is actually an old lawn mower grass catching bin. How cool! This measures 15-1/2 by 9 and is 13 inches high at the highest point. I hung old rusty wire across the back so it would hang up.SOLD!!

Egg crate

Old breadboard with kitchen utensils

My project Hoosier

Some of you who follow me on facebook may remember back in June, my friend drove up with a Hoosier in parts and pieces and asked me if I would like to buy it. I wasn't eager to take on any projects as we were in the middle of working on our vintage camper, but I felt compelled to buy it and try to bring it back to life. We had to replace a few of the door panels, and one drawer bottom, and it needed a thorough cleaning. Last, it had a broken trim piece that had not one but two mortise and tenon joints. Barry is pretty good at carpentry, but this called for my neighbor Joe, a cabinet maker extraordinaire! He just finished the last piece of the puzzle and here she is! Certainly not perfect, but at least we saved her! Up close she has some rough spots where there were several coats of paint, and like many of these old Hoosiers, some warpage on the side and back pieces. She is what she is! Has all original racks, sliding breadboard and a tin bread box in bottom drawer. This compact unit measures 36 inches wide by 25-1/2 deep and stands 69 inches tall. One additional note, bottom picture which shows the layers of paint, the color appears to be green, but this is actually blue! SOLD!

Glass and galvanized chicken waterer

Cupboard with old icebox door

I bought the icebox door from Michelle at Bittersweet Blessings in Chester. I loved it so much and hoped that someone would find inspiration and use the door in some creative way. It has been here for a few months, so I asked my friends Wayne and Susan Hughes if they would build a cupboard around it. Wayne makes amazing pieces using old salvaged items and Susan does the painting and the decorative touches. This is what Wayne came up with and Susan gave me great tips on how to distress the cupboard during painting. This has one shelf and a great latch that Wayne devised to make the old icebox hardware actually work. The cupboard measures 31-1/2 by 18 and stands 37 inches tall. Hard to see all the cool colors and shading as I have it out on the back porch drying, and it's a little dark out there! SOLD!

One of my favorite little finds!
