Time to start decorating for Halloween

When I reopen for the weekend, it will be September, so it's time to start bringing in Halloween! My favorite time of the year.

My favorite find this weekend

Hand painted bunny on old wooden door panel. I was going to save this for spring, but I just couldn't wait to put it in my store. It's clashing a bit with the fall colors, but oh well! Wire on back for hanging.

Unique garlic basket

I have never seen one of these before. From Italy, a garlic basket or shipping crate. Cool look!

Trunk

Great old trunk or tool box would make a perfect coffee table with built in storage. Someone moved the handles from the sides to one in the front and one in the back. Maybe it was easier to carry that way. It gives it an interesting look though.

Grinding wheel with seat and water trough

I have had just the wheels before, but this is the first one I have had with the stand intact and a seat, and the little water trough below the wheel. My husband saw this in the back of a pickup truck and when the guy came out, he asked if he was interested in selling it. He was, and here it is! Great in the garden.

Primitive measure

Here is an interesting little piece. I just liked the old wood on this and thought it was some kind of little stand. The woman I bought it from said it was used to measure a bunch of asparagus!

I don't know if that is what she used it for, or if that was what it was intended for. It's a conversation piece in any case. SOLD! and it really was an asparagus measure because the person who bought it had one before and she knew right away what it was~

Fall items are sneaking their way in!

I acquired this neat little cupboard, but someone had spray painted their initials onto it. I don't usually paint things, preferring to let customers finish things to their liking. However, this needed to be painted so I chose this "pumpkiny" color since I knew I was going to use this to display my fall things. I haven't put a price on it yet, as I like the way it looks right now in the store. But, I have been known to sell just about anything that isn't nailed down. Wait, I did even take something off the wall once that was nailed down because a customer just had to have it!

From Bee Charmer's Cottage come these wonderfully scented wax items. Little spice rubbed witches hats, that can sit on a shelf with Halloween displays or use a few as a bowl filler. There are also little pumpkins that smell so good, and are also spice rubbed. They have little twig stems and a bit of spice garnish the tops. On the bottom shelf, are goat milk soap bars. No, not from my goats, but made by Janet of Bee Charmer's Cottage. The bars of soap are in the shape of a pumpkin. I can attest to the quality of these hand made soaps. They lather up into nice foamy suds, and last and last. Best of all, the design keeps its shape forever but just gets smaller.

Handcrafted chenille pumpkins

Very cute pumpkins made from an old chenille bedspread. They have felt leaves and a twig stem. I remember when I bought these, I had them in the back of my car and my sister just happened to be visiting from Oregon. She loved them so much, I gave her one right away, and then she bought one to give to her friend. They are adorable!

Trunk with lid, horse door stop and twig wreath

I am so glad I added this non working fireplace to my addition because everything looks nice in front of it! People have asked to buy the fireplace, but I tell them it's nailed to the wall! I guess this is one thing I will NEVER sell! In front of it, a small trunk with lift off lid, and nice handles on sides. A cast iron reproduction horse door stop, and a hand crafted twig wreath.

Deb's handcrafted pillows

I have customers who practically beg for Deb's fine work! She is a pretty busy lady these days, but here are three beautiful pillows. She tea stained these to give them a nice aged look. Embroidered details, in pretty fall colors.

Pretty chair with fall leaves

Third time is a charm (I hope!) I have had this beautiful chair in the store for two autumn seasons, and now this will be the third. I just love it, and can't understand why it is still here. Rush seat in excellent condition and handpainted fall leaves on the chair back. Pretty yellow/gold paint, and only $22!! Let's see if it goes this year!
